WHAT is iheed?

iheed is an Irish Social Enterprise, dedicated to innovation in global health worker training by producing next-generation digital animated training content, and developing new blended training programs for health workers using mobile technology.

Digital training content for health workers can now be easily and rapidly distributed due to the global explosion of mobile devices and smartphones. 6 billion mobile connections exist worldwide, almost 5 billion of which are in developing countries.
It is estimated that another 4 million health workers are currently required to meet the world’s basic health needs. iheed’s digital training content and blended learning approaches will enable these workers to be trained better, faster and cheaper than ever before, keeping them upskilled and supported in the field.

Goals:

  1. To foster collaboration between development, education and mobile technology, communities to develop and deploy Community Health Worker mobile learning platformsand to provide a single source of expertise in this emerging field to Governments and development organisations.
  2. To create a platform-independent set of validated CHW-focussed content (diagnostic aids, training aids and communication aids) suitable for delivery via mobile devices, which will be freely available to relevant stakeholders.
  3. To support the roll-out of CHW strategies, working with and through Governments, to reduce training cost and time by introducing innovative training solutions to their programs.
