iheed is currently engaged in those geographical areas with greatest need with respect to maternal and child health and human resources for health, in particular the need for scaling-up numbers of adequately trained community health workers. In practice, this means a significant engagement in sub-Saharan Africa. However, iheed will consider engagement in other geographical areas as it expands and as needs indicate.

iheed has acted as a catalyst in attracting multi-million funding to help scale up a number of existing, innovative CHW programmes.
