Dr Deborah Biggerstaff


Deborah is a Chartered Psychologist, and Associate Fellow, British Psychological Society, who specialises in health research and clinical education. She has a national and developing international profile in applied health services research. An experienced educator, Deborah has over twenty years of knowledge teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has developed and led many different courses on research methods, clinical education, working across health and clinical psychology. With a background in health services research much of her research has focused on the experiences and psychological aspects of health services delivery. 
A highly skilled academic, Deborah has successfully supervised and mentored both Masters level and doctoral research students to successful completion. Her interests mostly focus on qualitative research methods with particular expertise in mental health and wellbeing, especially areas relating to women’s health and maternity care. She is particularly interested in developing students’ academic writing skills and research that improves students’ wellbeing, the use of innovative research design, and creative research representations to enhance health and wellbeing. She is a skilled coach and mentor working across the educational sector. Deborah is experienced in working with large national and international multi-disciplinary research collaborations with academics, educationalists, clinicians, patients and members of the public.
