Dr. Colin J. Kenny MB FRCGP MMEd BEM
Dr. Colin Kenny MB FRCGP MMED has been a general practitioner in Dromore, Co Down since 1985. He has recently retired after working for a spell in New Zealand. He has been a GP trainer, GP tutor, course organiser, and an associate director of medical education in the Northern Ireland Medical and Dental Training Agency. He ran a diabetes clinic in his practice from 1986 and writes and lectures regularly on diabetes-related subjects.
In 1996, he became the inaugural chairman of Primary Care Diabetes U.K. He was the founding chairman of the Primary Care Diabetes Society. In 2007, he became the editor of Diabetes and Primary Care and has also been editor of Diabetes Distilled. He was also involved with the ‘World of Diabetes’ podcast and lectures regularly on breaking evidence in diabetes. In 2018 he received a British Empire Medal for services to diabetes.
He has been actively involved on the Master’s / Diploma in Diabetes program offered by iHEED and the University of Warwick since 2017. He first joined as a tutor and quickly took over as the Programme Leader in 2019.
During his tenure, he has been instrumental in the development of the Master’s and Diploma programs, ensuring that the curriculum is continually improved, developed, and modernised in alignment with the latest advancements and guidelines in the field of diabetes.
