Dr Mark Kennedy
Dr. Mark Kennedy MB,BS, B.Med.Sc.(Hon), Grad.Dip.FamMed, Grad.Cert.Man, Grad.Cert.Int.Med., M.A.(Hist.)
Dr. Mark Kennedy has been a general practitioner in Geelong, Victoria since 1989. He has recently retired from clinical practice. He has been a GP supervisor, teacher, mentor and tutor and was managing director of a number of primary care clinics and a community-based multi-disciplinary diabetes clinic for more than thirty years. He has written extensively in the medical literature on diabetes, health literacy and a range of other medical subjects.
He has been involved in academic research for many years and has been a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne for more than a decade. His primary medical research interests have been diabetes, chronic disease, health literacy and health inequity.
In 2015, he became the inaugural chairman of the Primary Care Diabetes Society of Australia. He was also involved with the ‘World of Diabetes’ podcast and has been an invited speaker at a number of Australian and International Conferences, including the IDF World Diabetes Congress in 2013.
He has been involved on the Master’s / Diploma in Diabetes program offered by iHEED and the University of Warwick since 2018.
