Katie Reed (DC)
Katie Reed is a UK trained nurse and midwife. She has practiced in hospitals, primary care and Canadian nursing stations. After completing an MSc in Health Education, she spent nine years working on malaria control, mainly in Sub Saharan Africa. In 1999 she returned to the UK and took up a Research post at The University of Manchester studying for a PhD and working as a nurse in primary care. Since 2005 she has developed, taught, and managed online teaching and learning for the University of Manchester, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, London School of Hygiene and iheed. She has also worked as a developer and tutor for iheed since 2016 on a number of courses.
Her special interests in Diabetes have really emerged after her move into Public Health, Health Promotion and Medical Education, in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa. She currently has a special interest in service delivery; behavior change and the growing Global challenge of diabetes especially in low and middle income countries.
