Professor Julie Bruce

Julie's is a clinical trialist and her main research areas relate to surgery, pain and rehabilitation. She is co-investigator on various NIHR-funded clinical trials investigating robotic hip surgery (HTA RACER-Hip), Long Covid (HTA REGAIN), breast cancer treatment (HTA ATNEC) and recovery after discharge from ICU (HTA iRehab). She was Chief Investigator on an NIHR-funded multicentre UK trial investigating shoulder problems after breast cancer surgery (HTA PROSPER). Other recent work includes NIHR-funded programme grants investigating spinal stenosis in older people (BOOST: Co-app), chronic pain after knee surgery (STAR: Co-app) and recovery after bariatric surgery (SCOTS: Co-app). Julie was Editor with the Cochrane Collaboration Wounds Group (2015-2023), is an Editor with the Canadian Journal of Pain. She has published > 140 papers.
