Professional Diploma in Paediatrics

Duration: 9 Months

The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland

A wealth of evidence now shows that the healthy foetus, newborn and child enjoy better health as an adult. The care of infants, children and young people often form a large part of a doctor’s caseload, yet newly qualified doctors are often ill-equipped to provide comprehensive child-centred medical care and doctors considering entering speciality training in paediatrics soon realise that children are not simply small adults. Assessing an ill child is an art.

I really enjoyed the Paediatric diploma course – it was engaging and a really good foundation in child's medicine. The tutorials were clinically based on what you would see in practice. It was interesting to get input from clinicians practising throughout different specialties. It helped me in my clinical practice, and could take away points that I learned into the wards.
