Dr Daniel Shanley

Dr Daniel Shanley has 20 years of combined experience in the field of neuroscience and education. Daniel first obtained master’s degree in medical science in 2003 and went on to complete a PhD in Developmental Neuroscience in 2007, both at University College Cork (UCC), Ireland. He went on to work as postdoctoral researcher in both Biochemistry and Molecular and Neuroscience at UCC and Trinity College Dublin (TCD), Ireland, respectively. The focus of this research was examining the association between gene mutations and mis wired neural circuity related to mental health disorders. Daniel went on teach anatomy, with an emphasis on neuroanatomy, at TCD School of Medicine and has also taught undergraduate biochemistry at Technical University Dublin (formerly Dublin Institute of Technology). After a brief stint in the pharmaceutical industry monitoring up- and down-stream processes for large molecule pharmaceuticals, Daniel decided to return to education and for the last several years has been a Teaching Fellow for online modules in neuroscience and psychology at King’s College London. The focus of this work is facilitating student learning and supervising Master’s projects.
