Dr Tamar Abzhandadze
Tamar Abzhandadze, PhD, is a senior occupational therapist at the Department of Occupational Therapy at Sahlgrenska University Hospital and a postdoctoral researcher at both the University of Gothenburg and Karolinska Institutet. She holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Medicine (2021), with her research focusing on cognition and activity in the early stages following a stroke. Her academic background includes advanced degrees in both occupational therapy (2016) and psychology (2002). Tamar regularly conducts lectures, seminars, and workshops on teamwork, human rights in healthcare, and occupational therapy in acute stroke care. She emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration to enhance educational experiences and improve patient outcomes. Tamar has (co-)supervised a range of students, including PhD candidates, master's students, and medical doctors, providing guidance on research projects and theses. Her research interests span stroke rehabilitation, cognitive neuropsychology, quality of healthcare, cognitive assessment tools, epidemiology.
