This 12-month RCPI Professional Diploma in Occupational Medicine, LFOM Preparatory Course, is a dynamic programme designed to equip doctors with the knowledge and skills to promote and maintain the highest standards of workplace health and safety, as well as preparing them to attain an LFOM qualification.

Occupational Medicine plays a vital role in promoting and protecting the health, safety, and well-being of employees in the workplace. Physicians in this field assess workplace risks, manage work-related illnesses and injuries, and support safe return-to-work strategies, all while maintaining independence and impartiality. 

This innovative, fully online programme equips medical professionals with the skills and knowledge to assess and manage occupational health issues confidently and competently. Participants gain a deep understanding of workplace hazards, risk assessment, surveillance, and ethical and legal frameworks. 

The programme offers two progressive learning pathways:

  • Professional Diploma in Occupational Medicine.

  • LFOM Preparatory Course – additional topics and guidance on preparing for the Licentiate of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (LFOM) Exam, Portfolio and VIVA.
