Danny Wong
Dr Danny Wong MBBS, MRCGP, FFOM, MSc Occ Med is a Senior Consultant Occupational Physician, Responsible Officer, and nationally recognised medical educator with over 20 years’ experience across NHS, academic, and independent healthcare settings. He provides strategic clinical leadership, overseeing medical governance, revalidation, appraisal, and quality assurance at both organisational and national level.
Dr Wong is the Chief Examiner for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM UK) for Hand–Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and a national examiner for the Diploma in Occupational Medicine (DOccMed) and Membership of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (MFOM). He also serves as Responsible Officer for the FOM and is a member of the FOM Ethics Committee, contributing to national professional standards and ethical guidance.
He holds a Master’s degree in Occupational Medicine and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Merit). He is a published academic author, contributing to Fitness for Work: The Medical Aspects (6th edition Oxford University Press).
Dr Wong was Chair of the Society of Occupational Medicine (SOM) North East Group for ten years (2014–2024), during which the group received SOM Group of the Year Awards in 2018 and 2024, and hosted the SOM Annual Scientific Meeting (Newcastle, 2023). He is also a long-standing peer reviewer for the journal Occupational Medicine (Oxford University Press).
He is widely recognised for delivering high-impact, practical, and engaging education to doctors, nurses, and allied professionals, including tutoring, senior appraisal, trainee supervision, and remediation of doctors in difficulty. His educational and research interests include HAVS, occupational disease, health surveillance, fitness for work, impairment assessment, and medico-legal frameworks. He remains passionate about developing confident, ethical, and evidence-based occupational health leaders.
