Mariette Volschenk
Mariette Volschenk (MHPE, PhD) is a health professions educationist and researcher with both a master’s and doctoral degree in Health Professions Education (HPE). She is passionate about co-creating meaningful and transformative learning experiences with her students. Mariette’s scholarly interests span postgraduate teaching and supervision, professional identity, educational leadership, and the cultivation of mastersness within Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) programmes. She has a particular interest in narrative and art-based methodologies as a means to explore identity formation, relationality, and complexity in HPE. She holds a Stellenbosch University Teaching Fellowship and is currently engaged in research that focuses on advancing the development of mastersness in coursework MHPE programmes. Her work aims to promote broader access to postgraduate study, strengthen student preparedness for the transition into master’s-level scholarship, enhance academic success, and support graduates in shaping their future trajectories as educational scholars and leaders in HPE. She also leads the Master’s and Doctoral programmes in Health Professions Education at Stellenbosch University
