In Ireland, in 2017 the Department of Health published a national cancer strategy.
The National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) and the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) have identified specific educational gaps in the knowledge of those doctors, nurses, Pharmacists and other members of the primary care team caring for cancer patients and their families in the community.
